UBD Physical Education studentes honoured


The success achieved by the university must be viewed as a collective achievement for all, where we must be proud of the success no matter how small. Behind the achievement is a sense of accomplishment and sows the cooperation and teamwork of graduates and lecturers in the university.

This was stated by the Deputy Dekan for UBD  student welfares, Dr Hj Ramli bin Tingkong during is opening speech at the Physical Education Awards ceremony held at University Brunei Darussalam’s Multi Purpose hall.

He said that to be a successful  graduate they must not only obtain knowledge but also must have a high commitment with good ethics such as honesty, humble, helpful, and also be willing to help. With these ethics students will be able to have a sense of responsibility to ensure the university’s success and not just their own.

He also touched upon sports and education, where he said that graduates have sacrificed, blood, seat and tears to put UBD on the map and ensured the good reputation of the university will always be on top. These graduates will never be forgotten.

Graduates are encouraged to participate in sports activity where through the sports recreation they will be able to foster closer relations and enhance their level of fitness and health. Sports and education are linked with each other he said.

He explained that studies have shown that sports has been able to help boost the level of education and not vice versa, where sports does not hinder the pursuit of knowledge. In fact, through sports it helps stimulate the mind and the body, when the body is fit and health, the mind is also healthy and stong.

During the ceremony Four were presented awards for obtaining 1st class honours in their respective degrees, while 5 were presented with the best academic achievement. In total 18 graduates were presented with awards for their achievements and contribution to the university

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN Jummat 22 Oktober –  Sesuatu kejayaan yand dicapai oleh Universiti perlu dianggap sebagai kejayaan bersama, yang mana kita perlu berasa bangga apabila kita dapat mencapai sesuatu kejayaan walaupun kecil kerana di sebalik kejayaan itu kita telah menyemai perasaan saling memerlukan dan saling membantu.

Perkara tersebut telah dinyatakan oleh Timbalan Dekan Hal Ehwal Pelajar Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Dr Hj Ramli bin Tingkong semasa ucapan alu-aluannya di Majlis malam anugerah pendidikan jasmani 2010, di dewan serbaguna UBD.

Beliau mengatakan bahawa seseorang mahasiswa yang cemerlang selian dari berilmy dan mempunyai komitmen yang tinggi dalam sesuatu perkara juga perlu mempunyai sifat-sifat peribadi yang mulia.

Etika mulia seperti amanah, jujur, tidak mementingkan diri sendiri dan bantu membantu perlu dihayati oleh semua mahasiswa apabila kita saling berkerjasama.

Katanya, dengan cara ini kita akan dapat melahirkan perasaan bertanggungjawab untuk membawa kecemerlangan university secara kolektif. Kejayaan university bukanlah kejayan secara peribadi. Kejayaan yang kita raih perlu dikongsi secara bersama.

Beliau mengulas bahawa kita perlu mengubah minda dan sikap untuk melakukan sesuatu perkara dengan tekun dan bersungguh-sunggu bagi mengejar kegemilangan sama ada pada peringkat Negara mahupun antarabangsa.

Para mahasiswa-mahasiswi perlu mempunyai sikap dan budaya prestasi tinggi dalam semua bidang. Budaya perstasi tinggi ini perlu ditunjukkan dalam pencapain akademik, sukan kepimpinan dan apa sahaja yang diceburi, dengan cara ini kita tidak sahaja akan berada pada tahap kecemerrlangan tetapi lebih dari itu, iaitu mencipta kegemilangan dan seterusnya menjadikan UBD  atau sekolah kita sebagai university atau sekolah yang terbilang dan terkemuka.

Dr Hj Ramli juga menyentuh mengenai sukan dan pelajaran, yang mana beliau menjelaskan bahawa pengorbanan para atlet berjujang menaikkan nama diri dan university tidak mungkin dapat dilupakan. Begitu juga penglibatan mahasiswa dalam bidang sukan di university sering dikaikan dengan pencapain akademik merek dalam setiap peperiksaan yang dijalankan.

Malah Mahasiswa seharusukan digalakkan untuk bergiat aktif dalam aktiviti sukan dan rekreasi semasa di university, kerana ia akan memberi kebaikan kapada kesihatan, dan pada yang sama ia tidak menjejaskan prestasi pelajaran.

Malah faktor bersukan bukanlah  penyebab kepada kemerosotan pencapain akademik tetapi terdapat kaftor-faktor lain yang memperngaruhi prestasi akademik seperti tidak dapat mengikuti pelajaran yang berkesan, tiada kumpulan belajar, malu bertanya kepada pensyarah dan kawan, dan lain=lain sebab lagi.

Katanya sukan bukan sahaja mampu mempertingatkan tahap kesihatan tetapi telah menjadi wadah untuk mengukuhkan ikatan persaudaraan dan silaturahim. Dengan persefahaman dan kerjasama yang dipupuk melalui penyertaan dalam sukan yang tidak mengira latar belakang bangsa dan agama, telah berjaya membentuk kita menjadi satu bangsa Brunei yang progresif dan meningkatkan lagi perpaduan di kalangan rakyat berbilang kaum.

Semasa majlis malam anugerah pendidikan jasmani 2010, seramai  18 mahasiswa-mahasiswi telah diraikan  yang mana anugerah  yang telah diberikan kepada mahasiswa-mahasiswi yang telah berjaya menonjolkan diri baik dari segi akademik mahupun non akademik didalam dan luar kampus di sepanjang pengajian mereka di Universiti Brunei Darussalam

 

Fifteen special needs students and their teachers from the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Collage, Prevocational program, were given a special movie treat courtesy of Mvision cinemas at the Empire cinema.

Mvision cinemas management said that this is one way that the cinemas can give back to the community, by providing wholesome entertainment to special groups of people in the country

The movie underlines the concept of friendship, and commradship as well as courage and valour in facing overwhelming odds, where through teamwork and cooperation as well as support from family and friends, we can do anything we set our minds to.

The movie was a great way to insert these concepts to the students, we thank our host, the Empire cinema to for their generous contribution, and sheding a happy smile for the prevocational students in SOAS collage, said Sirazuddin, home room teacher.

He said that pre vocational students comprises of students with down syndroms, autism, as well as other special needs. In the program the students are given life activities to help them develop their life skills as well as enhancing their knowledge and confidence in dealing with everyday life.
