STPRi Students in Kayaking Adventure

As part of the school extra curricular activity the Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI) Adventure Club took to the waters of Searsa beach to try their hands on kayaking.

37 members of the adventure club along with and 8 teachers all had a hand in kayaking, a new activity according to Head of STPRI Adventure Club Andy Tan.

He said that students are to be more active in CCA and ECA activities as part of the SPN21 program. With that in mind the STPRI adventure club has been active of late organising activities that are adventure based, such as, hiking, teambuilding, rock climbing, river crossing, jungle trekking, aw well as adventure trip to Temburong  and adventure trip to Niah Cave, Miri.

He explained that kayaking is something very new for the members of the adventure club, not only does kayaking involve discipline and team work, but it also exposes the students to water sport activities.

He said that safety is always top priority in any sport, especially sports and activites organised by the adventure club, where its aims are to boost up student’s activeness in ECA in the school to involve students in many other new activities as well as  to learn the safest and basic way to Kayak.

The Kayaking activity was facilitated by members of the UBD Rover Scout 1016.

MUARA Ahad 11 April – Dalam usaha bagi meningkatkan lagi aktiviti-aktiviti baru bagi penutut-penutnt STPRI khusunya bagi ahli-ahli kelab pengembaran STPRI, kelab tersebut telah mengadakan acara kayak di pantai serasa.

37 ahli dan 8 orang guru pengawas telah mengikut serta dalam acara tersebut yang telah dikendalikan oleh ahli-ahli UBD Rover Scout 1016.

Menurut ketua kelab tersebut, Cikgu Andy Tan, ini adalah pertama kali Kelab tersebut mengadakan acara kayak yang mana salah satu tujuannya adalah bagi meningkatkan aktiviti-aktiviti sekolah yang digariskan oleh SPN21.

Katanya lagi bahawa kelab tersebut telah mengadakan beberapa acara sebelum ini seperti menerokai hutan, hiking, dan juga menjelajahi Gua Niah, Miri dan Hutan persimpanan Temburong.

Beliau menerangkan bahawa aktiviti kayak tersebut bertujuan bagi memberi pendedahan mengenai asas kayak dan juga cara pengunaan keselamatan kayak. Katanya Kelab Pengembaran STPRI akan terus berusaha bagi meningkatakan lagi aktiviti-aktiviti riadah seperti ini bagi mendedahkan aktiviti-aktiviti baru dikalangan ahli ahli.
